I know right, it’s sounds to good to be true but it’s true. Andy Murray has finally won Wimbledon. After 77 years of waiting for a British man to claim the championship title and that amazing solid gold cup that Fred Perry won back in 1936. But Andy did it! Today’s Men’s Finals had everyone on edge. The question ‘would Andy finally be victorious after years and years of trying to win Wimbledon?’ was on everybody’s lips.
Andy beat Djokovic with 3 straight sets. In the first set Andy was victorious whilst in the second set he strugggled a little bit as Djokovic wasn’t backing down. After winning the second set, Andy had the struggle of trying to stay on top and win the final set. He did fall weak towards the near end of the match but stayed strong. After what seemed like forever for him to gain the final championship point he did it. Loads of celebrities came out to support and watch Andy Murray in the Men’s Finals. David Cameron, Victoria Beckham, Coleen and Wayne Rooney, Ed Miliband, Gerald Butler, Simon Fuller and Bradley Cooper were just some of the celebrities that came to Wimbledon.
I believe that the support from the crowd is what helped carry Murray to victory. Congratulations Andy on winnning Wimbledon 2013! It was a long time coming but well deserved!
