Guilty Pleasure: Being Mary Jane

Oh my god, I love this show. Hands down beside Scandal (which is pretty much the same things a Being Mary Jane) and The Originals, I would say that Being Mary Jane is one of the best shows on TV….PERIOD!!! What is there not to love? Such an amazing cast: Gabrielle Union, Omari Hardwick, Stephen Bishop, Raven Goodwin just to name a few of the actors that make this show great.

So for those of you have don’t have a single clue as to what Being Mary Jane is about let me fill you in. Mary Jane Paul is a news presenter who works for a TV company and is very good and successful at her job. Her work life is one it’s top form but however her love life isn’t. She met Andre (outside of the show) and starts to date him unaware that he is married with children. When she finds out that he has been keeping this from her she kicks him to the curb, tells his wife that she is sleeping with him and decides to start fooling around with her ex David again. In the mist of all this fooling she takes some bad advice from one of her interviewees on her talk show and secretly steals David’s sperm. Mary Jane is once again unaware that David has also being seeing someone else behind Mary Jane’s back and she is at a complete loss. Knowing that she is doing the wrong thing, she goes back to Andre and there affair continues. When she starts to realise that Andre was just the rebound guy for her ex David she dumps Andre and attempts to pursue David again but David has moved on. When one of Mary Jane’s friends tell David about Mary Jane stealing his sperm, he goes round to see Mary Jane only for her to realise that he is all she ever wanted. She confesses her love for him but he declines so in a finale attempt to get what she wants she tries to inseminate herself with the sperm but decides its a bad idea and decides to move on from David for good.

This show has me glued to the TV. I haven’t missed a single episode of the show. Stephen Bishop who plays David is the most sexiest male TV actor I have seen in a long time (even sexier than Harrison from Scandal and Marcel from The Originals). If I had to rate this show I would honestly give it 11/10. If you haven’t seen the show, then you need too.

Even though the season finale which aired this week disappointed the hell out of me, I still love this show. I can relate to this show in so many ways (I’m not talking about her sleeping with the married man part or her stealing her ex’s sperm part either). Seeing another TV show which is being lead by a Black woman is inspiring because it’s not often that Black women or men are cast as lead actors within the film and TV industry.

The worst part  is that it is over for now but don’t worry because Being Mary Jane has been renewed! Word on the Twitter street is that they will start shooting for the second season of Being Mary Jane very soon and apparently Mary Jane might be pregnant with Andre’s baby!!!!!!!!!!! (but this is just a rumour so don’t get to excited).

Hollyoaks: The Last Chapter for The Brady’s

Oh man! This week in Hollyoaks has been one of the most fascinating and exciting weeks ever since Hollyoaks has started and its all been down to one man….Mr. Brendan Brady. This week is to be the final week we will see Brendan and Cheryl Brady as they both mark there exits and bow out of Hollyoaks. This storyline has to be one of the best storylines I have ever watched on Hollyoaks and I’ve been watching Hollyoaks for over a decade and a bit now.

So where do I start? Well…Brendan’s days of terrorising the folk of the village, killing vulnerable people and slapping the life and soul out of Ste is over as He leaves Hollyoaks in one of the best ways possible…in jail! Yes, Brendan isn’t dead which begs the question…will he ever return? Probably not but if he does that will be an episode everyone will watch. This storyline between Walker and Brendan has been brewing for sometime now as you guys who watch Hollyoaks might know and it has finally reached ending point. For those of you who haven’t seen Hollyoaks this week I hate to be the spoiler and ruin the plot for you but what fun would it be if you didn’t know?

Walker is dead. Yes that’s right, the ever so suspicious looking Walker is dead and it’s all down to Brendan. See Brendan and Walker had one of the most weakest and funniest fights I’ve ever seen which resulted in Walker beening kicked in front of the train by Brendan. But before all of that had happened, Walker somehow managed to kidnap both Seamus (Brendan’s dad) and Brendan himself and video recorded Seamus admitting that he used to sexual assault Brendan when he was young. The amazing thing about this was Walker got arrested after this and then escaped which resulted in him meeting with Brendan for the fight.

After all that we thought it was all over but oh no it didn’t stop there. Like I said before Walker had recorded Seamus admitting so assaulting Brendan and just before he was kicked in front of the train he somehow magically managed to put the footage on a USB stick and send it special delivery to Cheryl so she finally knows the truth about what Seamus did to Brendan. During this time Cheryl had found the gun that Walker had kicked under the sofa when he was fighting with Brendan in the house. Now while all of this was happening Seamus and Brendan was fighting it out like all Irish men do and let’s just say Seamus was beating the life out of Brendan. Just at that point where Seamus was going to repeat history and sexual assault Brendan one more time, Cheryl walks in and shoots Seamus right in the back.

I know what your thinking? Since when did Cheryl grow such big balls? Well she kinda always had the balls to get in your face but she never really had the balls to shoot someone dead let alone her old man. So…Cheryl shoots Seamus dead and let’s Brendan know that she has found out the truth. Brendan being Brendan trys to tell Cheryl that everything is going to be okay and that he will take the wrap for her but she’s not having it. Brendan finally manages to convince her and just as he does he decides its time to face the music.

Brendan walks to the door of the club, kicks it open and confesses to all the murders he has committed. Just as he is doing this, Cheryl realises that he has taken the gun and given her the bullets from the gun meaning that he had already planned what was going to happen. Ste is downstairs screaming his head of and at that point Brendan whispers the words “in a next life Steven” and shots at the police and SWAT team.

Thursday’s episode had everyone holding there breath as we saw/heard Brendan get shot by the SWAT team. Now I know I wasn’t the only person in the county who though that Brendan was dead. I have to admit, I almost cried. I did, I almost cried. E4 at 7pm couldn’t come quicker because I desperately wanted to know how the last chapter in the Brady book ended. Now for those of you who don’t wanna know click off the page now cause I’m gonna be the one to ruin it for you. Well firstly, Brendan doesn’t die. It turns out the SWAT team just shot him in the arm. Ste demands answers and wants to know what really happened and well you’ve guessed it Cheryl’s big mouth goes and ruins it. She tells Ste everything and Ste demands that he tells the truth just so Brendan can get set free but that doesn’t go quite according to plan.

Brendan tells Ste that he loves him but he has to let him go and Ste just can’t except it. Cheryl breaks up with Nate only to get back with him and they both leave Hollyoaks together with B*Witched playing in the car. Gosh that is so Cheryl. The final scene is of Brendan sitting in the ceil ready to go down. Like I said in the beginning…..fascinating and exciting.

I have really enjoyed Brendan and Cheryl in Hollyoaks. I do hope that one day there characters will return to the village and cause commotion. I have to praise Emmett J Scanlan for his portrayal as Brendan Brady. He is an amazing actor and I hope he wins big at this year British Soap Awards 2013 so go and vote now! #GoodbyeBradys

Guilty Pleasure: The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Oh Darlingggggggg! What can I say. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills just does something to me. It’s like my special reality TV show drug and I just can’t get enough of it. I love all of the Beverly Hills housewives (with the exception of Taylor) and I have to say that besides Nene from Real Housewives of Atlanta, all of these are really entertaining. They know how to argue, they know how to bitch and most importantly they know to flaunt that cash! I like all the housewives but my personal favourites are Adrienne and Lisa.

Lisa. What can I say about Lisa. With a surname like “Vanderpump” you know she rich. I love her honesty. I feel like I have a personal connection with her not just because she’s British (hi5 to the brits) but because she’s fabulous. She seems the most real and down to earth and that’s why I love her. Adrienne is such a sweetheart too. I love her personality as well as her hair.

As you guys are aware there is like 500 different housewife shows like Mob Wives, Basketball Wives, Love & Hip Hop etc etc. but there is nothing like the housewives franchise. My mum is the one responsible for getting me into these housewives shows cause if I’m honest I was never really a bit fan. But now, I just can’t get enough. Out of all the housewives shows I love t Beverly Hills and New York the most but not everyone would argue but still everyone has their own tastes.

I truly am addicted to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and that’s why its one of my guilty pleasures.

Guilty Pleasure: The Ricky Gervais Show

Oh man. What can I say? Never in my life have I watched a show which is as bizarre, insane and hilarious as The Ricky Gervais Show. I’ve always been quite fond of Ricky Gervais. I personally would classify him as Britain’s best comedian however when it comes the show, I think Karl Pilkington steals his thunder. I think the question everyone asks themselves when they watch The Ricky Gervais Show is … ‘What the fuck is happening in Karl’s brain?’. The guy is a complete maniac in the funniest way possible.

Every night I sacrifice my sleep schedule and eyes just to watch an episode of The Ricky Gervais Show which is rare for me cause I never ever do that. The combination of Stephen, Ricky and Karl is just amazing. There like an superhero trio whose powers consist of jokes. Karl is a genius, just a straight up genius. Sometimes he is just talking complete shit but when you think about it some of it does make sense.

If you didn’t know The Ricky Gervais Show was originally a radio show which later transitioned into this genius animation show. Stephen Mercent, who I’m gonna call the silent creeper on the show does nothing but expand the stupidity of Karl in such a dignified way unlike Ricky who just outright tell Karl he’s talking shit.

What I love about this show is not the whit of the show, not the comical side (even though that does play a part) but mainly I love the overall atmosphere of the show. I love that the 3 of them can have a laugh at Karl’s expense and not take it too seriously. They generally seem like they all get along and I love that. That’s why The Ricky Gervais Show is my guilty pleasure.

Guilty Pleasure: Khloé Kardashian-Odom

Now I’ve never really been a Kardashian fan however I am willing to admit that Khloé Kardashian-Odom is my guilty pleasure. I’m sure most people would agree with me when I say that Khloé is my favourite out of all the Kardashians. I love a lot things about Khloé. I love her style, her personality, her sarcastic phrases, her peaceful spirit but most importantly I love her manners. I feel that out of all the Kardashians she has the best manners. I also feel like she is the only one in her family that isn’t fame hungry. To me when I look at Khloé, I see a strong inspirational woman who stands for a lot. I find her love for love inspiring. The love that I see she has for her husband Lamar seems so special and perfect. I reckon most people would love to have a relationship like there’s.

When I watch her on Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Khloé and Lamar, I see that she is so down to earth and so graceful. Being a female myself, I often look for people who I can admire and could possibly have a influence in my life and I feel like Khloé could potentially be one of those people. I got to much love for Khloé and I’m glad to honor her as my guilty pleasure.

Guilty Pleasure: Cuckoo

I am cuckoo for cuckoo (yes, pun intended)! BBC3’s new and funniest comedy Cuckoo has me in stitches everytime I watch it. If you have never heard of Cuckoo or even seen the show, where have you been?! Cuckoo is a American spiritual ninja who follow the new age of life. Rachel; who is the daughter of Ken’s meets Cuckoo and marries him whilst on her gap year from Uni. When she comes back home, she introduces her parents Lorna and Ken to Cuckoo in which Ken takes an instant dislike to Cuckoo. Ken and Cuckoo go through different trials and tribulations together which results with them to become friends towards the end of the show. Ken warms up to Cuckoo and welcomes him as his son-in-law. Andy Samberg provides possibly his best acting performance ever with playing Cuckoo. His peaceful and soulful acting as Cuckoo is hilarious. There isn’t one episode where Andy Samberg doesn’t make you believe that he is Cuckoo. The show also stars The Inbetweeners star Greg Davis who plays the father of Rachel and the new enemy of Cuckoo’s. Greg provides the classical father vs. son-in-law role. I am in love with this show and generally never miss an single episode.

Even though the series has come to an end, I will always keep watching Cuckoo on repeat and I will especially be watching the new series (if they make one)! Cuckoo is definitely me guilty pleasure! Watch The Trailer For Cuckoo:

Guilty Pleasure: Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show

When Chris Moyles announced that he was leaving Radio 1’s breakfast show, the whole nation was devastated. 8 years worth of laughs and jokey time were over. I was on the fence about who would we taking over from Chris and whether they would do a good job or not. So like everyone else I waited to hear who would be the voice that I would wake up to in the morning. I had my money set on one person; Fearne Cotton. I desperately wanted her to get the role on the breakfast club. When the time came for it to be announced, I was a very shocked when the announced that Nick Grimshaw would be taking over. At first, I thought it was some sort of joke but nope it was true. I have to admit in the beginning I wasn’t to sure about Nick taking over from Chris, but it felt it would only be fair if I gave him a chance. And what do you know……the chance paid off. Grimmers has become my addiction. Every morning when I wake up, I turned on my Sky+ box and press 0101 to hear Nick. I absolutely love Nick in the mornings and the segments that he does like ‘Wheel of Four Tunes’, ‘Shelbot’ and ‘The Nickstape’.

He’s not quite Chris Moyles yet but I reckon in a few year time he could be just as good as Moyles. He even has his celebrity friends like Rita Ora, Harry Styles from One Direction and Pixie Geldof backing his corner and screaming ‘#TEAMGRIMMY’. I love waking up to The Breakfast Show and you know what despite all the negative comments that everyone else has been making…..I LOVE GRIMMERS. You can listen to Nick on The Breakfast Show from Monday to Friday starting at 6.30am to 10 am.

Guilty Pleasure: The Wendy Williams Show

Everybody has a guilty pleasure especially when it comes to TV shows. One of my favorite guilty pleasures is the Wendy Williams show. I can not get enough of this show and every time it comes on I just have to watch it. I never miss an episode of the Wendy Williams show. My tiny obsession with the show started back in 2009 when I first discovered the show on BET. At first I just thought that it was another female chat show like Oprah, Ellen and Monique. So I started watching a few episodes and initially thought that it was okay but after a while I found myself panicking every time I missed a Wendy Williams episode.

Being from London, Wendy Williams isn’t really known over her like Oprah and Ellen. I decided to do my research on Wendy and see what she’s about. To my surprise she was much more than just a TV show host. She’s a radio personality, a DJ and an occasional actress. When I first saw Wendy, I’m gonna be honest I generally thought that she was a man in drag.

One thing that I love about the Wendy Williams show is Wendy’s Hot Topics. I am a sucker for her hot topics and everything and everyone has to be extremely quite in my house when she’s doing her hot topics. I guess it’s the fact that she tells it how it is that attracts me to her show. If a certain celebrity is acting like a fool, Wendy will definitely tell them they are acting like a fool! And that’s what I love. Plus I love it when she brings her friends like that chef that is always cooking on her show and Ben Lyons and people like that.

This blog post wouldn’t be right if I didn’t mention the one thing about Wendy and her show that everyone has heard and said themselves once in a while. “HOW U DOIN!”. I have to admit I often find myself saying “HOW U DOIN” when she comes on my TV screen.
